EX DEO To Film 'In Her Dark Embrace' Video
October 21, 2009EX DEO, the Ancient Roman-themed arsenal led by KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono, recently returned from a succesful trek in Europe and is now preparing to take on North America alongside ENSIFERUM, HYPOCRISY and BLACKGUARD. Plans are also underway for the band to film a video for the song "In Her Dark Embrace". The clip will once again be shot by renowned director Ivan Colic and producer Stanimir "Staca" Lukic (MOONSPELL, KAMELOT, DEATHSTARS, TYPE O NEGATIVE) in Belgrade, Serbia. The filming will take place in early January 2010 and will be released in the month of Mars (March) to celebrate Mars, the ancient Roman god of war.
Commented Iacono: "The first video clip we did was for the title track 'Romulus'. It was an epic venture into the beginning of Rome's birth and mythology and served as more of an introduction to the story. This time we're going to do a video that will turn everyone on their heads. 'In Her Dark Embrace' will depict a Roman battle scene. We're not going for airplay here, we're going for what Rome was: the most brutal and efficient war machine that ever walked the earth. If it's blood the people want, it's blood they will get. I can't wait to get this done."
"Romulus", the debut album from EX DEO, sold around 600 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 90 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
Released on June 19 (Europe) and June 30 (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records, "Romulus" was recorded with producer (and KATAKLYSM guitarist) Jean-Francois Dagenais (MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON, MALEVOLENT CREATION).
